Why not year-round schooling with long holiday breaks? Better still, let me use my tax dollars to pick the school whose schedule serves my family best.

I'm with Spin.  Why not year-round school?  A month off in the Winter, A month in the summer and a couple of short breaks in the Spring and Fall, along with the usual three and four day weekends every now and then would make more sense than the three whole months in the Summer.  I mean as long as you're wanting to tell school districts how and when their schools should be open, why not go for it?
