    2009 House Bill 2155 (Create Topeka land bank)

    Introduced in the House on January 29, 2009, to authorize the City of Topeka to create and control a land bank to be operated by a board the city appoints, with the new bank's role being to hold, manage, maintain, develop and sell any property acquired by the city or Shawnee County

    The vote was 81 in favor, 38 opposed and 6 not voting

    Seems to me this will create a big new incentive for Topeka to use its imminent domain power. We'd have a new public entity acting as an entrepreneurial land developer, taking our private property to do it.
