- Introduced by Rep. Brenda Landwehr (R) on February 2, 2010, in her role as committee chair, to authorize the legal use of marijuana for debilitating medical conditions, the registration and function of compassion centers allowed to dispense marijuana, and the issuance of state identification cards for center administrators, staffers, caregivers, and patients allowed to legally participate in the program. Qualifying medical conditions are specified in the bill and certain criminal convictions would prevent patients from becoming registered.

Not only does cannabis NOT contain 5x the carcinogens as cigarettes (where are you getting that information?) it has absolutely 0 carcinogens when you use a vaporizer, or eat it, which are the preferred methods for anyone using it for medical purposes. It is also now known to be an incredible cancer reducer and preventer. That's right, according to all legitimate academic research done on the subject since the 70's, cannabis has been proven time and time again to prevent tumors from forming in the first place, and reduce the sizes of tumors already formed. But I'm guessing you have never heard that before have you? According to a new Harvard study recently released people who use cannabis are 60% less likely to get cancers of the head and neck.
You are missing many important points here. One...those pharmaceuticals have ridiculous side effects, as well as insane withdrawl symptoms. They can be so addictive that people kill themselves when they can't get them anymore. Listen to the comercials, they admit it. I recently found out I have cyclic vomitting syndrome which means that I have episodes of extreme vomitting where I will throw up a minimum of twice an hour for the entire time I am awake, which by the way due to constant vomitting and excruciating chest pains, averages 30 hours or so. This goes on for about 4-11 days each time. That is unless I have been lucky enough to acquire some of this holy medicine myself, in which case all I have to do is have a vape and I am COMPLETELY well within an hour every time. When I was hospitalized with it the first time they gave me injections of some anti-nausea medicine that did absolutely nothing. They gave me a shot of fentanyl which made me so delirious I didn't recognize my fiance sitting in the room with me. When one of these episodes starts I can't hold down a pill long enough for it to take effect. So what you're telling me is that I should have to suffer like this for days at a time just because you have some misguided view about what cannabis actually is due to lies told to you by people with financial, corporate and political agendas?
This apathy towards the suffering of your fellow man that you disguise under the banner of "morality" is ruining the world.
Based on this logic
1) Would you also feel that God would bless the use of poison ivy and 'to
you it shall be meat'? You also fail to recognize that this Bible verse
is regarding the time before the fall of Adam and Eve when all was paradise.
2) On all the earth and with our vast array of medicines and pharmaceuticals,
smoking marijuana is the only cure for your illness?
You also fail to recognize the negative physical and psychological effects of marijuana. The fact that marijuana contains 5 or more times the carcinogens
of cigarettes and that marijuana takes away a person's motivation and
drive
plus causes paranoia and other psychological problems in some people. It's amazing how people will try to twist facts and reality in order to
justify their feelings. Some doctors once argued the positive effects of LSD and some claimed that cigarettes were good for digestion.
Instead of looking for excuses to smoke marijuana, try looking for something
that not only helps you with your illness, but also improves your physical and
mental health instead of just putting you in an altered state of reality without doing anything to solve the underlying problem.
I love my state, my country, and my fellow man and I vote.
As a Christian by faith, the use of marijuana is only a sin for me because it is illegal in my state. In the AKJV Bible , Gen 1:29 states; "And God said, "Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of the tree yeilding seed; to you it shall be for meat"."
I have medical conditions as such; glaucoma, fibromyagia, depression, anxiety disorder, and chronic pain just to name a few. I am 55 yrs old and marijuana benefits me in allowing me pain and anxiety relief, which in turn gives me an increased mobility. I would much rather use God given naturals instead of man created chemicals for medication. Please vote yes on this bill. I am begging you.
