Introduced in the Senate on January 12, 2009, to include, for purpose of the Kansas Tort Claims Act, employee medical students enrolled at the University of Kansas Medical Center who are in clinical training at any health care institution after July 1, 2008. The Tort Claims Act specifies circumstances in which the state allows itself to be sued, such as for the wrongful acts of its employees. The bill would also exclude as covered employees any adult or juvinile offenders performing community service, and independent contractors under contract with a government entity.
