Introduced by Sen. Terry Bruce (R) on February 6, 2009, in his role as a committee chair, to abolish the Kansas Animal Health Department under the direction of the Kansas Livestock Commissioner and replace it with an Animal Health Department within the Kansas Department of Agriculture. In addition, the bill transfers the current Division of Conservation, which is part of the Kansas Conservation Commission, to the Kansas Department of Agriculture.

I assume this bill if passed would be a measure to reduce spending. If so, I would agree that it is necessary legislation.
